The Seminary of
Ecstatic Poetics

is a non-traditional learning space for the poetically inclined run by Gabrielle Octavia Rucker.&#38;nbsp;
Classes happen infrequently and are birthed through whim and positive obsession.
To date, the Seminary has taught over 400 poets and artists.

		<description>
I’m not a professional writer, can I take your workshops?
Yes! The Seminary is open to learners of all backgrounds &#38;amp; levels. Interdisciplinary perspectives and practices are joyfully welcomed.
 How do I know if the Seminary of Ecstatic Poetics is for me?
A few clues that you might enjoy the Seminary: Grad school burnt you out and broke your heart; you don’t have a college degree; sharing ideas and parallel play is how you make friends and connections; you want to practice participating in and co-creating non-hierarchical learning spaces; traditional poetics is cool but you wanna experiment; etc…
Do you record your classes?
I very, very rarely record my classes as I find it limits the participation of those in attendance. If needed, I am happy to record for those who have accessibility needs.How do you price your classes?
I try my best to keep my classes as affordable as possible and price workshops based on what I myself would be able to reasonably afford as a freelance/independent artist. Most, if not all, classes are sliding scale in nature.
 Do you offer payment plans?Yes. If you need a payment plan please reach out via email.

Do you accept trades?I’m open to trades! If you’d like to suggest a trade please email me.

What is your payment policy?
Payment is due in full at least 24 hours before the date of class. Payment is due in full to receive the Zoom link for class.
 Do you offer refunds?
I do not offer refunds but I do offer a credit for the amount you have already paid to any future class I may offer during that current calendar year. While this policy may not be ideal, it is the best I can offer.I signed up for a workshop! When should I expect an email from you?Emails for registered participents usually go out 2 weeks before the date class is scheduled to start. If you signed up for class and have not gotten an email from me check your spam folder!
Are there any other non-traditional learning environments you would recommend?Yes! The Poetry Project,&#38;nbsp;The Warman School, The School for Poetic Computation, Poetry Field School, Vocational Poetics, Invisible College…
(this list will be periodically updated)

		<description>&#38;nbsp;

poetic (adj.) — from Latin poeticus, from Greek poiētikos "pertaining to poetry," literally "creative, productive," from poiētos "made," verbal adjective of poiein "to make"
practitioner (n.)— 1540s, "one who acquires knowledge from actual practice;" … has as a secondary meaning, "One who uses any sly or dangerous arts"
heal (v.)— Old English hælan "cure; save; make whole, sound and well," from Proto-Germanic *hailjan, literally "to make whole"

 &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;  poetic practitioner = one who makes whole through practice; a believer that language arts is foundational to the healing arts. &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;
 &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;
I am not a teacher in the formal sense but rather the traditional.

I identify poetic ingredients (qualities) and combine them as I feel is most helpful, healing, and thought-provoking for myself and others. This practice translates to something that vaguely resembles the role of a teacher though I am very openly disinterested and suspicious of academia and the parameters that define it i.e shame, competition, binary forms, formality, ableism, status quo, class politics, eugenics, and the like.

What I am interested in: close reading, experimentation, following the path of confusion, interdisciplinary approaches, automatic (intuitive) knowledge, slow knowledge, liminal knowledge, restorative knowledge, plainspeaking, self directed chaos, genuine disagreement, joyful collaboration, citation, generosity, parallel play, surrealism, cosmology, magical objects, abandonment, etc.
